Resthaven Onkaparinga Community Services offers in-home care and support, respite for carers and social support for older people living in the southern foothills and outer southern suburbs.
Resthaven offers a wide range of flexible services so that you are able to live independently at home.
Trained Resthaven staff are based at our Community Services office in Noarlunga, where they coordinate home support services, delivered in your home or at the site.
You may choose to receive support with household tasks, home maintenance, shopping, social activities, keeping healthy, personal care, and nursing care.
We run a variety of social groups such as:
- A few good men: cards, bingo, pool and music
- All aboard Op Shop trips: Op-shopping with lunch
- Creative connections: Arts and craft group
- Destination lunch: scenic drive to a wonderful lunch destination
- Fab and fit group: gentle chair and standing exercise group
- Move & groove, falls & balance: fitness group including a gym circuit
- Historians and fact finders: explore the mysteries of the world in an afternoon of knowledge-sharing
- Ladies afternoon: pampering group including nail care and afternoon tea
- Love the classics movie club: held at Noarlunga cinema. Morning tea provided.
- Monthly bus trips and outings.

What assistance can I have?
Lifestyle Choices Plus services include the full range of Resthaven’s fully accredited, high quality community aged care services, including:
- domestic assistance,
- personal care,
- respite,
- home nursing,
- transport, and
- help with shopping or appointments.
So whether you live at home, in retirement living, or residential care, you may take up these services in the long term, short term or for “one-off” needs.
Resthaven provides Lifestyle Choices Plus services in metropolitan Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Riverland, Murraylands, Limestone Coast and the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Exercise groups run by Resthaven are focused on improving strength, fitness and balance, and can be tailored to your individual needs.
Groups include aquatic, dance, resistance training, and cardiovascular activities.
These activities are run by qualified Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists or Exercise Physiologists.
To help you stay living at home longer, Resthaven’s Home Care Packages provide in-home assistance and support.
Services are delivered using a Consumer Directed Care (CDC) approach, giving you choice and flexibility in the way you receive your services.
Resthaven’s trained staff deliver services in a way that supports and respects your choices, independence, and privacy, providing peace of mind.
There are four levels of Home Care Packages.
- Home Care Level 1 and 2: designed to help people with basic or low level care needs.
- Home Care Levels 3 and 4: designed for people with intermediate or high care needs.
Services can include (but are not limited to):
- Domestic assistance
House cleaning, laundry, shopping and paying bills, and help with pets. - Personal care
Grooming, showering, assistance with medication, and continence management. - Meal preparation
Help with preparation of healthy home cooked meals. - Home maintenance
Minor maintenance and gardening. - Outings

Home Help
Domestic services that will help you around the home include:

Personal Care
We assist you in self-care, supporting you in maintaining your independence.
Tasks include:
- Showering/washing
- Dressing and grooming
- Taking or applying medications

Resthaven’s nursing services aim to improve the quality of life for older people living in the community or residential care.
We provide rehabilitation, transitional care, and clinical nursing and allied health services for people living at home.
Resthaven’s enrolled and registered nurses are fully qualified and trained to deliver specialist care in the following areas:
- Dementia care. Resthaven’s Professional Nursing services provide dementia-focused clinical care.
- Palliative Care. Resthaven supports people whose illness or chronic condition cannot be cured.

Resthaven’s rehabilitation and therapy services are designed to improve quality of life through rehabilitation, maintenance and ‘reablement’.

Dietary advice and support from qualified dietitians to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. - Counselling and Social Work
Support available upon request. - Parkinson’s disease
Supporting people who are suffering from Parkinson’s Disease and their carers with both physical and emotional support and self-management programs. - Chronic condition self-management
Support to help you manage diabetes, stroke, arthritis or other conditions.
Therapy services can be tailored to a range of needs and supports for people living with a variety of illnesses and injuries.
These include:
- Alzheimer’s disease, dementia/memory loss
Group support and social groups - Parkinson’s disease
Support for people with Parkinson’s Disease and their carers, both physical and emotional support. - Stroke
Helping you get back on your feet. - Recovery from surgery/injury

We provide respite to support carers, to enable them to sustain their physical and emotional health.
Respite provides carers a break from their caring role and enables them to continue participating in community life, while having the confidence that the person they care for is supported by trained staff. Staff are trained in supporting older people and their carers living with dementia.
Respite can be in the carer’s or client’s home, a community venue or at one of our Community Services centres or at one of our respite cottages.
Choose from day respite, in-home respite, and overnight respite.
Respite involves many different activities tailored to the client.
Some activities include:
- Outings
- A meal and chat
- Art and craft
- Games
Day Repite includes morning tea and lunch.
If you have an interest and would like to share it with others, please let our friendly staff know and we will work with you to incorporate it within our respite services. Resthaven’s priority is to offer services tailored to the needs and interests of our clients.

Resthaven’s Short Term Restorative Care (STRC) Program provides services over an eight week period to improve your wellbeing and independence.
The services aim to improve your ability to complete everyday tasks, and delay or avoid the need for long-term care.
Social engagement is provided one on one or in small groups, depending on individual needs and preferences.

Recreational Groups
Our social groups have a great time! We regularly travel around Adelaide, always seeing and doing something new.
You can choose to travel with us on an excursion, or join in one of the many activities at the centre, including:
- arts and crafts,
- music,
- entertainment,
- Men’s Group,
- card and board games.
We work with you to develop activities based on your interests, hobbies and abilities.

Support for people with dementia
Resthaven actively runs support programs for people living with dementia.
These programs are funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), and offer both individual and group activities for people over 65 years living with memory loss, with or without an identified carer.
These tailored programs provide a supportive environment that aim to reduce isolation, strengthen community and social supports, promote wellness and independence, and provide memory support through Cognitive Stimulation Therapy and Brain Training.
Group activities include:
- lunch outings,
- the Cue Club,
- ‘Just Fellas’ men’s excursions,
- Sew, Knit & Chat (Hersey Cottages Marion),
- art groups, and
- ‘The Shed’.
These programs support people living in southern and eastern metropolitan Adelaide.

Parkinson’s Disease Group
The Parkinson’s Disease Support Groups support people and their carers who are suffering from Parkinson’s Disease with both physical and emotional support.
Groups are currently run from Resthaven Paradise and Eastern Community Services, and Resthaven Murray Bridge, Hills, and Fleurieu Community Services (Murray Bridge).
The groups undertake balance activities using the Chi Ball, games, education and cognitive speech exercises each week, with regular outings.

Speech Communication Group
Resthaven’s Speech Communication Group supports older people recovering from stroke, surgery or injury that has affected their speech, resulting in aphasia or other problems.

Resthaven is an approved provider contracted to deliver Veterans’ support services on behalf of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).

A mix of direct service delivery, tailored support and expert advice to assist older people and their carers and families, to manage the older person’s vision loss and maximise independence to enable them to remain living in their own home.
Resthaven provides Vision Support Services throughout all Adelaide metropolitan areas, the Limestone Coast, Murray Bridge, the Adelaide Hills, and the Fleurieu Peninsula, thanks to Commonwealth Home Support Programme funding.
