    Resthaven Board leadership retirement: Farewell Mark Porter, welcome Stephanie Rozokos

    Resthaven announces the retirement of Mark Porter, who is stepping down after 20 years of dedicated service on the Resthaven Board and 13 years as Board President.

    Resthaven also proudly welcomes Stephanie Rozokos as the new Board President on 1 January 2026, marking an exciting new chapter in its governance.

    Mark joined the Resthaven Board in 2005, at a time when he served as Principal of Woodcroft College and was a Board Member of the State and National Associations of Independent Schools.

    From the time he joined the Resthaven Board, Mark brought an energy and enthusiasm to his role that showcased his commitment to the organisation. On 1 January 2012, following the retirement of Carole Davidson, Mark commenced as Board President.

    ‘Mark is the epitome of wisdom,’ Darren Birbeck, Resthaven CEO says.

    ‘He has a talent for seeing the bigger picture, and for identifying the potential in others. For twenty years, Mark’s visionary leadership, unwavering dedication and tireless efforts have played a pivotal role in guiding Resthaven to where it stands today. We are deeply grateful for his many contributions.’

    As Resthaven honours Mark’s legacy, it also looks to the future with Stephanie’s appointment. Stephanie brings her experience as the Chief Operating Officer of the South Australian Tourism Commission, and more than 20 years’ experience in corporate services, including finance, contracts and procurement, people and culture, information technology, strategy and risk management. She is also a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA).

    Stephanie has been an active and valuable member of the Resthaven Board since 2019 and has been the Board Deputy President since 2021.

    ‘We are excited to move into this new chapter with Stephanie as Board President,’ Darren says. ‘Her experience, skills, and natural abilities ensure she will play a critical role in advancing our vision of enriching the lives of older people.’

    With Stephanie vacating the position of Deputy Board President, Resthaven welcomes Michael Haydon, former Board Treasurer into this role. Michael has been a board member since 2019 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) as well as being a Chartered Accountant. Freddy Bartlett, who has been a Board Member since 2022, steps into the role of Board Treasurer. Freddy is the Managing Director of property and infrastructure funds manager ICAM.

    Mark Porter was recognised for his service at his last Board Meeting as Resthaven Board President on 1 December 2025.

    ‘On a personal level, I’d like to thank Mark for his support since I was appointed CEO in 2020,’ Darren says.

    ‘Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and the Aged Care Royal Commission, he provided clear guidance, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our residents, clients, staff, and community. He has strengthened our organisation, allowing us to deliver safe, high-quality care to older South Australians.’
