Melissa helps residents live ‘their best retirement’ at Resthaven Chiton

‘The best part of my job is the people,’ says Melissa Jennings, Retirement Living Coordinator at Resthaven.

Every day, Melissa works with a diverse group of residents, and she says listening to their stories is one of the most rewarding aspects of her role. Seeing them come together as a community — despite their different backgrounds and experiences — has given her a deeper appreciation for the many ways people connect and build relationships in retirement living.

‘The village at Chiton is very community-based,’ Melissa says. ‘We have a beautiful Lakehouse where everyone comes down to mingle and relax. Residents can enjoy a drink on the deck overlooking the lake — it’s just a great place to be.’

Melissa joined Resthaven in 2023 and received the Customer Choice Award (Retirement Living) at the 2025 Resthaven Excellence Awards — recognition that reflects how much she values supporting residents in their day-to-day lives.

‘I love my job,’ Melissa says. ‘I love being able to help people, whether it’s technical support, pointing them in the right direction, or simply making sure they’re enjoying the best retirement they can.’

She adds that the village’s natural surroundings make it an especially special place to work and live.

‘The wetlands, the lakes and the hills — wherever you look, the views are stunning,’ she says. ‘You don’t get that in most places. I feel very lucky to work here, and I know the residents appreciate having that right on their doorstep.’
