Resthaven opens Western Wellness Centre
Resthaven announces the opening of the Western Wellness Centre in November, located at 21 Davidson Avenue, Hendon.
The wellness centre provides support and services for older people looking to maintain their independence and stay confident with everyday activities. Promoting wellness and supporting reablement are a key focus for the centre.
The centre builds on the outstanding service history previously operated by Eldercare Acacia Court. Resthaven has been proud to partner with Eldercare who previously had a long and successful history of operating the Day Therapy Centre in the same location.
Resthaven’s new centre provides a range of allied health and social programs, while also providing a community space for older people for connection and enjoyment.
Resthaven’s Executive Manager Community Services and Retirement Living Mel Ottaway, believes the new centre builds on Resthaven’s service offerings in the Western suburbs and will continue supporting older people to age well and achieve their goals.
‘We want to assist people to stay in their own homes as long as they want and are able to,’ Mel says.
‘The centre will create better ways to support older people to maintain their optimal health. This is a passion and focus for Resthaven.’
‘Offering a range of group and individualised services, staff at the Resthaven Western Wellness Centre can assist with chronic disease management, mobility and personal fitness. The experienced and compassionate team will work with individuals to design a plan that meets their optimal goals, with a strong focus on personal wellbeing.’
Services at the site include:
- Physiotherapy – for movement, strength, falls and balance, with tailored programs to help you stay steady, flexible, and active.
- Occupational Therapy – for help to keep doing the things you enjoy and need to do, with practical strategies, equipment advice, home modification requirements and support.
- Exercise Physiology – to improve physical function, rehabilitation and pain management through tailored exercise programs, particularly for individuals with chronic conditions, injuries, or disabilities.
- Speech Pathology – to provide support with speech, communication, and swallowing, to help you stay connected and safe.
- Podiatry – to promote good foot health through professional nail care, diabetic foot care, and footwear guidance.
New social, wellness and day programs will be coming soon. Resthaven works alongside older people to support your wellbeing in ways that matter most to you.
Resthaven Allied Health Services at the centre and at other locations can be accessed through the government’s Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP). Eligibility for this is determined via My Aged Care.
