‘Thank You’ from family and friends

    Keeping residents safe

We thank all those families and friends of the older people living in Resthaven’s residential aged care homes who have reached out to show their support for Resthaven’s visitor policies during these difficult times.

In considering the risks for residents and staff, we took the very difficult decision to cease visitor access on 25 March 2020, other than for end of life care visits. Additional measures are in place to ensure that residents and families are well supported during this time.

At Resthaven Murray Bridge, a self-professed ‘very devoted wife who usually visits daily,’ said that she:

‘Agrees wholeheartedly with no change to visitor restrictions.’

‘We do not want to undo all the magnificent care that everyone has given to all residents. Thank you to everyone and God bless.’

At Resthaven Aberfoyle Park, a family member wrote to say:

‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping mum safe, and for keeping us all informed of everything that is going on.’

‘Please take care of yourselves and know we are all supporting you from our 1. 5 metre distance!’

The daughter of a resident of Resthaven Malvern wrote to say,

‘Congratulations and well done on the protective responses which have been put in place by the staff. We are all faced with a challenging unknown, and with tough measures needed, you are stepping up to do just that.’

‘I had already self isolated myself from my children and grandchildren, and while it is hard, it is necessary until we see what the coming weeks and months bring. To know that you are taking these measures brings so much relief.’

At Resthaven Marion, a family said:

‘We had our first visit with our mum through the window today. Not only had the staff made the area so very special for everyone concerned, the amount of extra love and care they showed towards mum was above and beyond our expectations, for which we are very thankful.’

‘Please pass our thanks and appreciation to all at Resthaven Marion for all their efforts and care through this very difficult time.’

The family of a Resthaven Mount Gambier resident said:

‘I would like to acknowledge the staff at Resthaven Mount Gambier for making it possible for my daughter and I to see dad through the window for his birthday. He acknowledged us with a wave, thumbs up, and blew a kiss to us.’

‘He is looking very well, which was wonderful to see. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.’

At Resthaven Port Elliot, these positive comments were received:

‘Annoyingly, some of the political announcements have been quite misleading regarding the care of people in residential care. I appreciate all the staff has done to help mum during this time, and I commend the staff and management on their care and kindness.’

These are difficult times for us all. We strive to work together with our site communities, and appreciate your support.
