100th birthday celebrated via Zoom
Mrs Beatrice Wallace of Resthaven Marion was delighted to enjoy her 100th birthday celebrations on Sunday 12 April with her family and friends from around Australia, via popular conferencing app, ‘Zoom’.
Manager, Stephanie Steensma, says, ‘Bea was originally meant to have a celebration at the Glenelg Golf Club with family from Adelaide and interstate – but unfortunately, that was not possible due to the pandemic situation at present.’
‘Bea’s granddaughter contacted us, and we arranged a Zoom conference with her family from all over Australia.’
‘Bea was very surprised on Sunday when I turned up with an iPad, with all her family on there waiting to wish her happy birthday!’
‘She opened her letters from the Queen and Governor General, and spent half an hour chatting with her family.’
Residents across many Resthaven residential aged care homes are using technology keep in contact with their family and friends.
At Resthaven Westbourne Park, Mrs Gwen Ruse recently enjoyed ‘FaceTiming’ with her daughter, and Mrs Onde Graham also met with her husband, Wes, via FaceTime (pictured).
Resthaven residential aged care homes are located at Aberfoyle Park, Bellevue Heights, Craigmore, Leabrook, Malvern, Marion, Mitcham, Murray Bridge, Mount Gambier, Paradise, Port Elliot and Westbourne Park.
