Clients in the Limestone Coast enjoy scenic river cruise

Earlier this month, Resthaven Limestone Community Services clients enjoyed a relaxing, scenic cruise along the Glenelg River.

Manager, Karen Hammond, says, ‘There was a 15-person cap on the boat, and with much interest, we ended up organising two separate cruises, one for clients from Millicent, the other for clients from Naracoorte.’

‘Volunteer, Gina, drove the Resthaven bus to pick up clients one day, and the next day, we had a volunteer from the Lion’s Club take the other group.’

Karen and her team were sure to make the outing extra special for clients.

‘Each cruise lasts two and a half hours, so we provided lunch. Everyone enjoyed a huge buffet of cold meats, salads, and then hand-made fruit salad and cream, and of course, tea and coffee.’

Both groups enjoyed their time on the cruise, growing closer friendships within their social group.

‘One client, Kevin, recalled the last time he was on a boat on the river which was, “far too long ago”, and “can we please do this again? It has been the highlight of the month”.’

‘We would love to do something like this again for clients – stay tuned!’

Thank you to the team at Resthaven Limestone Coast Community Services for making this special day a great success!
