Valerie feels confident with Resthaven’s home support services
Resthaven Limestone Coast Community Services client, Mrs Valerie Huxtable, says Resthaven has given her the confidence to continue to live independently in her unit at Mount Gambier.
‘Resthaven comes around if I need anything done, such as paying a bill or anything,’ Valerie says. ‘And if I need to do a little bit of shopping, they’ll take me there as well.’
‘I go to an exercise group with Resthaven every Tuesday morning and that’s a special thing. It helps me to keep moving, but it’s also good for social support.’
Previously working as a Lifeline counsellor and in the hospital kiosk, Valerie moved to Mount Gambier to be closer to her son.
‘Coming down here, I didn’t know anyone except my son,’ Valerie says.
‘But being with Resthaven helps me mix with people my own age. It’s wonderful to have Resthaven for the social interactions and the help that I need.’
Resthaven Limestone Coast Community Services offers aged care support and services for people living in their own homes, coordinated from offices in Mount Gambier, Millicent and Naracoorte.
