Resthaven Community Respite Services celebrates Resthaven’s 90th anniversary
On Friday 21 March, Resthaven Community Respite Services welcomed around 50 clients and their carers to the Toorak House respite cottage, to share Devonshire Tea in honour of Resthaven’s 90th anniversary in 2025.
Guests were delighted by the beautiful table settings created by the staff team, which boasted lace tablecloths, ornamental flower arrangements, China teacups with golden spoons, ‘welcome’ cards at each table, and lead crystal wine glasses.
Executive Manager Community Services and Retirement Living, Mel Ottaway, was particularly impressed by the floral displays, which incorporated hanging pearls, white ribbons, and streamers.
Mel says, ‘So much effort was put in by the staff team to make this event special – it was just beautiful.’
Manager, Franco Parenti, opened proceedings with a brief speech about Resthaven’s 90-year history, and welcomed all guests, including Deputy Board President Stephanie Rozokos. This was followed by a viewing of a special history film, while staff brought out a wonderful array of delicious treats including cucumber sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, mini pavlovas, and lemon tarts.
It wouldn’t be a party without a sing-along, with Home Support Worker, Peter, leading the group in rousing renditions of ‘I still call Australia home,’ ‘Country Roads’, and the Australian National Anthem.
All guests received special goody bags filled with treats, to send them on their way in style.
