    New Executive Manager Community Services announced

    Resthaven CEO, Darren Birbeck, announced today, ‘Due to the forthcoming retirement of Resthaven Executive, Sue McKechnie at the end of March, I am pleased to advise that Melanie (Mel) Ottaway has been appointed to the role of Executive Manager Community Services.’

    ‘Mel comes to Resthaven from Uniting Communities, where she is the Executive Manager, Services for Older People, with responsibility for the residential, home care and retirement living portfolios, and the U City short stay specialist hotel and commercial function centre. Prior to this she worked as Group Manager for Southern Cross Care,’ says Darren.

    ‘She holds Master’s degrees in nursing and business. Mel is involved in various sector committees including the sector peak body, Aged and Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA) Management Advisory, Home Care and Retirement Committees and Department of Health Dementia Expert Reference Group.’

    ‘We believe that Mel will be a valuable addition to the Resthaven Executive team, and we welcome her to Resthaven.’

    ‘Until she commences, Senior Manager, Sue Dahl, will be Acting Executive Manager Community Services from 1 April 2023.’

    Resthaven Community Services continues to experience significant growth, with a 30% increase in the number of Home Care Packages provided in the last year.

    More than 14,000 older people and their carers welcome the care that Resthaven brings throughout metropolitan Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Fleurieu Peninsula, Murraylands, Riverland, Limestone Coast and Lower Barossa region of South Australia.
