• ‘Every Generation’ Festival Fun

2016 Every Generation FestivalThis Saturday we celebrate the start of the 2016 Council of the Ageing (COTA) Every Generation Festival.

As a festival sponsor, Resthaven is looking forward to the many events being held during the next two weeks.

The Festival will kick off with a free Fete in the Botanic Gardens, where Resthaven will have a marquee.

Resthaven staff, including CEO, Richard Hearn, will provide information about Resthaven’s aged care services to interested members of the public. Learn about what we offer, and enjoy the market stalls, gardening tips and a stroll in the gardens.

The Fete will be held in the ‘Economic Gardens,’ a flat site catering to all mobility levels, and suitable for wheelchairs and walkers.

All Adelaide Botanic Garden exhibits will be open on the day, including the restaurant and café. Free guided tours will taking place every 30 minutes from the Fete site.

Come and find Resthaven at the ‘Every Generation’ Fete – we hope to see you there!

There are many more exciting events being held across the state. Go to the COTA website to download the Every Generation Festival program.

The festival finishes with a bang on Friday, 28 October with an Awards Gala Cocktail Party, where the winners of the 2016 Positive Ageing Awards are announced.

This year, Resthaven is a proud sponsor of the ‘Community Program under $10,000’. The finalists include: the Companion Animal Project, City of Charles Sturt; Ridleyton Greek Home for the Aged, CST Group; and the Sewing Studio, City of West Torrens.

We are pleased that Resthaven Malvern has also been nominated, for the ‘Southern Cross Care Community Project over $10,000 Award’, for its collaboration with Thai aged care organisation, Baan Sudthavas. Staff at Resthaven Malvern have a collaborative working relationship with Baan Sudthavas Foundation (BSF) in Thailand. Staff facilitate a pen-friend exchange project between the older people living at each home, who have been exchanging letters and gifts over the past two years. The initiative allows good cultural communication between the homes. The plan is to establish regular Skype link-ups with the facility in Thailand in the future.

Good luck to all the finalists!
