AFLW Crows visit a real treat!

On Wednesday 19 May 2022, Resthaven Limestone Coast Community Services hosted a special morning tea for clients at their office in George Street, Millicent.

Resthaven social group clients were treated to a delicious home baked morning tea cooked by the staff, while playing ‘tea – rivia’ with the chance of winning a lucky door prize that had been donated by a couple of clients.

The highlight of the morning was a surprise visit from the Adelaide Crows AFLW (Women’s) league players, Sarah Allan and Anne Hatchard. Both are Premiership players, and the clients were excited to find out that they had brought with them the 2022 premiership cup to show the group.

Resthaven clients enjoyed the opportunity to speak with the players, particularly as many have known Sarah since her early days. Sarah grew up in the south east of South Australia, originally in Beachport, and later moving to Millicent.

Anne is a two-time premiership player and won the Crows 2020 AFLW Best and Fairest.

The pair were happy to pose for many photos that were taken to show off to the social group participants’ family members.

Client Judy said, ‘It was a really good fun morning, great to be out socialising and being back in the community.’

Client Nita added, ‘It was an enjoyable morning, and my family are going to have a chuckle at me with the photo of me with the girls, as they are not from my team!’

It was a very successful social group activity with many compliments received.

All proceeds collected from the morning will be donated to the Millicent Cancer Support Group.
