Sam Mitchell from Mission Australia holding a football jersey adorned with AboriginalThe theme for 2022 is, ‘Be Brave, Make Change’. It is a time for Australians to learn of our shared culture, histories and achievements, exploring how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.

Welcoming Sam Mitchell from Mission Australia, clients and staff learned more about the Aboriginal community.

Gina Stephenson, Assistant Manager Community Services says, ‘Sam gave a wonderful talk about what Reconciliation Week was about, and what it means to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Australians.’

‘He shared many stories about his youth and his family history, as well as his role at Mission Australia.’

‘His talk prompted a lot of discussion, as well as creating more understanding around Aboriginal culture, and their people.’

‘We all had the opportunity to write on a leaf to add to a special board that Sam had created for us, stating what each of us could do to support reconciliation.’

‘Sam was a very engaging speaker and allowed for a lot of discussion and interaction.’

‘A lovely way to celebrate Reconciliation Week!’
