Resthaven at the 2019 Feast Festival

Last week, Resthaven got into the festival spirit by attending Feast Festival family fun days in Adelaide and Christies Beach.

Held in November each year, the Feast Festival is a LGBTI Arts and Cultural Festival that celebrates pride and diversity.

On Saturday, staff manned a stall at Rotary Park, Christies Beach, taking part in the after party that began on the conclusion of the ‘Pride in the South’ march down Beach Road.

On Sunday, staff enthusiastically attended one of the festival’s most popular events, Picnic in the Park, at Pinky Flat on the River Torrens.

Richard Hearn, Resthaven CEO, attended both events and said, ‘It is fantastic to see such enthusiastic support for these events from Resthaven and its staff’.

‘I witnessed genuine interaction between staff and the community at both events, with attendees asking what we can do for the LGBTI community in aged care.’

Member for Reynell, Katrine Hildyard MP, attended Pride in the South, and had much praise for Resthaven, saying ‘I am so happy Resthaven has joined our southern community today, who welcome, include and celebrate others’.

‘It was also great to chat with the Mayor of Onkaparinga, Erin Thompson,’ Richard added.

Attendees at both events noted Resthaven’s presence, and were also pleased we had attended to support this diverse community.

Resthaven works together with older people and their carers throughout metropolitan Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Murraylands, Fleurieu, Barossa, Riverland and Limestone Coast of South Australia.
