Men on the Move and About Town

On Thursday 17 June 2021, Resthaven hosted a special event for Resthaven clients and staff.

Resthaven Marion Community Services social groups for men, ‘Men on the Move’ and ‘Men About Town,’ were invited to the event, which was held at Resthaven Head Office and facilitated by Manager Facilities and Assets, Stephen Hooper.

Upon arrival, the group were greeted by a huge display of old tools, which they enjoyed browsing and reminiscing over.

This was followed by morning tea, before the group headed downstairs to view a wonderful display of classic cars and ‘hot rods’, which had been set up in the Head Office car park.

‘Men on the Move’ group member, Herbert, was delighted to enjoy a seat in a maroon 1947 Chevy, before admiring a bright yellow, 1948 Ford Deluxe Coupe.

‘These cars are beautiful,’ Herbert said. elderly men surrounding classic car

‘Where I grew up in England, you very rarely saw a car at all – to see a car was an event!’

‘Mind you, I was only a toddler then; when I was older, I used to see these sorts of cars occasionally.’

The event certainly had the tick of approval from Herbert, saying it was ‘one of the best’ the group had enjoyed.

‘We do all sorts of things,’ he continues; ‘We sometimes visit nice gardens or lovely old houses.’

    ‘But this is pretty good!’

We hope everyone enjoyed the day.

    Happy Men’s Health Week!
