    Awards season for Resthaven: ‘Better Practice’ and COTA ‘Every Generation’ Award Wins

    Lee Sando,  Virginia MatthewsResthaven has been raking in the awards this year, winning a ‘Better Practice’ award, and a ‘COTA Every Generation Positive Ageing’ award.

    The ‘Better Practice’ Award was awarded for Resthaven Community Services project, ‘Managing Medication Risks’, which aims to empower older people living at home to safely manage their own medication, and to educate the people who support them.

    ‘This award is significant, with only six awarded in South Australia from 28 nationally, out of 195 nominations,’ said Executive Manager, Community Services, Sue McKechnie.

    ‘The trophy was presented at Resthaven Head Office on 2 November by Virginia Matthews, Acting State Director SA/NT, Australian Aged Care Quality Agency.’

    Virginia said, ‘The Better Practice Awards showcase aged are providers that succeed in moving beyond minimum levels of compliance to demonstrate innovative and inspirational aged care practice.’

    ‘This award reflects Resthaven’s commitment to go beyond routine provision of care and achieve at a high level.’

    Felicity Billing, Noreen, Terry KirkwoodOn 28 October, Resthaven Malvern were delighted to be joint winners in the COTA ‘Every Generation’ Awards.

    ‘The ‘Community Program > $10,000’ Award was presented for their penpal program with the Baan Sudthavas Foundation in Thailand,’ said Executive Manager, Residential Services, Tina Cooper.

    ‘This collaborative project incorporates exchanging letters, gifts and photographs between Resthaven Malvern residents and Baan Sudthavas residents, fostering cross-cultural learning and friendships.’

    ‘Resthaven staff and residents alike were delighted to attend the gala award dinner to accept their well-deserved award.’

    ‘Well done to all Resthaven staff who contributed to this fantastic project.’
