Resthaven Murray Bridge Redevelopment Stage 1 Complete

On 5 September, the first stage of the major redevelopment at Resthaven Murray Bridge was officially ‘handed over’ by the builders.

‘The new Resthaven Murray Bridge extension provides high quality accommodation for residents previously located in the older Harrip and Homburg areas of the site,’ says Emmet O’Donovan, Manager, Building and Capital Projects.

‘It is really looking lovely, bright and airy.’

Manager, Residential Services, Debbie Lindner, is delighted with the new extension, saying, ‘I can’t believe that it was only May when the first concrete slab was poured.’

‘We all watched in amazement as the well-oiled team of workmen went about working together seamlessly to get all that concrete laid in such a timely manner.’

‘Since then, there has been significant changes and huge amounts of progress.’

‘We continue to observe these teams working hard, all under the watchful eyes of Paul Strachan, our building site supervisor from Sarah Constructions.’

Emmet is equally happy with progress, saying, ‘Once residents are safely moved into the new area, we will begin the stage 2 refurbishment of Harrip and Homburg.’

‘Stage three of the redevelopment will commence in 2018, and incorporates the construction of 20 new rooms to replace the Talbot, Jenkins and Christopher areas, which will be demolished to make way for the new extension.’

‘Stage three will also include a new reception and administration area, a dedicated hall, new café, hairdresser, shop and library.’

‘Works to the new car park have commenced, and will provide alternative parking once stage three is underway.’

‘We can’t wait to see the finished result in late 2018.’

    ‘Watch this space!’
