• An update re COVID-19

At Resthaven, we want to stay COVID SAFE at all times and prevent any risk of a positive COVID-19 case in any of our services. We all need to work hard to maintain this and do the right thing at all times. Thank you for your support with this.

Overall, South Australia has continued to respond positively to the risk of COVID-19, with the community abiding by the steps recommended to us all to assist in prevention.

Unfortunately, we are not seeing the same positive outcomes occurring interstate, with Victoria and New South Wales still having significant positive cases that are coupled with community transmission. This poses a risk for us all and more so for older people.

Due to the coronavirus cases being identified in regional Victoria, even greater vigilance is required, particularly at Resthaven Mount Gambier.

    We cannot afford any complacency.

Please remember these important prevention steps:

    • Maintain good hand hygiene at all times – wash your hands with soap and water or utilise hand sanitising gel
    • Ensure social distancing of 1.5 metres at all times
    • Practice good cough etiquette
    • Stay away from anyone who is sick
    • Ensure you inform staff if you are sick with any type of respiratory symptoms or a fever.

    Outings

In late June, it was welcome news that the State Emergency Direction allowed residents to leave their residential aged care homes for outings.

However, should South Australia again have positive coronavirus cases, the risk of community transmission by attending locations in the community can pose great risk.

Hence, it is important that any resident outings occur with a strong focus on avoiding any possible risk and, ideally, be only for the purposes of a small family gathering or where social distancing can be assured.

Should you have any queries related to the current situation please feel free to speak with the site Manager Residential Services.

For the latest public advice, visit www.health.gov.au or call the National Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080.

We have released a fact sheet to guide you in the safe management of outings. Thank you in advance for adhering to these measures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents and staff.
