On Friday 3 June, Resthaven was honoured that Resthaven Port Elliot won this award at the 2016 Aged and Community Services (ACS) SA and NT Awards for Excellence presentation, held at the National Wine Centre.
ACS is the national peak body representing not-for-profit organisations in the aged and community care industry.
Designed by Brown Falconer Group, Resthaven Port Elliot is a state-of-the-art aged care home which blends an external design complementing the historic setting of the heritage-listed main street, with a delightfully liveable, efficient, and contemporary building to serve the local community well, both now and into the future.
David Norton, Resthaven’s Executive Manager, Finance and Corporate Services, accepted the award, saying, ‘I was so pleased that all the hard work of the last few years has been recognised’.
‘The building, which opened in May 2015, is modern, spacious and elegant – a truly beautiful example of modern aged care living.’
‘The site encompasses many environmental design features, including solar power, rainwater catchment and LED lighting. The exterior street scape has been improved with new footpaths, public seating, public artwork and an improved streetscape in keeping with the local heritage zone.’
‘For the people who live there, the living environment is light, spacious and airy. All of the well equipped resident rooms feature modern amenities and ensuite bathrooms. Courtyard gardens, comfortable lounge areas, dining rooms, internet café, onsite shop, library, multifunction hall and café area all add to the lifestyle features. A health and wellness centre in the old school house supports people living locally, and four independent units offer retirement living options.’
‘Residents and their families confirm that the amenity of the site creates a very comfortable living environment.’
‘Resthaven Port Elliot is a worthy recipient of this prestigious building award.’
Congratulations Resthaven Port Elliot!
Congratulations also to Peter Jenkin, Resthaven Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner, who was a finalist in the Employee Award.
