Resthaven on 1197AM Leisure Link program – Vision Australia Radio
Engaging with our Community thanks to Peter Greco's Leisure Link program
Resthaven social programs in the western suburbs, chaplaincy at Resthaven Marion, and National Volunteer Week – these are just a few of the subjects you will hear about if you tune into Peter Greco’s ‘Leisure Link’ program on Vision Australia Radio (formerly RPH) on the second Saturday of each month.
‘You can listen in at around 6.00pm on 1197 on the AM dial,’ says Resthaven CEO, Richard Hearn.
‘Each month, a different speaker discusses their particular area of expertise or updates listeners about recent happenings. The topics are many and varied, but always interesting.’
‘This is one way we make information available and engage with the wider community.’
‘Regular listeners know that Resthaven will be featured on the second Saturday of the month, as we have been doing this now for more than twenty years.’
‘I am extremely grateful to Peter Greco, who hosts the program and supports our speakers to overcome their ‘radio nerves’.’
‘Resthaven staff from across South Australia ‘guest star’ on the program and chat with Peter about many and varied topics of interest to the community.’
‘Community engagement is so important. It helps us to understand our customers, their preferences and gives us a chance to share Resthaven’s values and discuss our services,’ Richard continues.
‘Since Resthaven was established in 1935 out of a need for support for older people and their carers, we have always worked together with our local communities.’
‘Resthaven has regular conversations with many communities of interest, including those working with older people and in advocacy. This offers us insight and helps us make sure that our services are locally relevant, and aligned to the expectations of our customers.’
Richard says, ‘We stay in touch with local people, face to face; at meetings, committees, conferences and events relating to aged care, participating in community expos and fairs, regularly asking questions through consumer advisory groups, offering speakers for community groups, and through these monthly speaker spots on Vision Australia Radio – RPH Adelaide.’
