40 years of crochet – and more!
Mrs Betty Martin of Resthaven Mitcham is 92 years young. With her youthful approach to life, she continues her 40 year interest of crochet.
Resthaven Mitcham Lifestyle Coordinator, Sylvia Ortiz, says, ‘Betty collects balls of wool and remnants to crochet into squares, which she then crochets together to make knee rugs for those less fortunate.’
‘She is a long term member of a community “Knit and natter” club, and happily receives their squares to put together to make rugs.’
‘Betty finds crochet very relaxing, and enjoys doing something with a benefit for others, giving back to the community.’
‘Her collection of handiwork is given to charities for distribution to the homeless and other people in need.’
‘Her skills are not restricted to crocheting – a beautiful tapestry adorns her room.’
