    Anusha finds connection through volunteering

Resthaven Marion Community Services clients have been enjoying extra support in their social groups lately, thanks to volunteer, Anusha Nadeem.

In recent years, Anusha and her husband left their home in Pakistan for a new adventure in Australia.

Anusha says, ‘It was my husband who first found Resthaven, securing an Enrolled Nurse position with Resthaven Onkaparinga Community Services.’

‘He enjoys the work in community services a lot, and recommended I volunteer here.’

Two months ago, Anusha joined Resthaven Marion Community Services as a volunteer.

‘I support the art group once a week, and we have about six to seven people join. We always have great fun together and enjoy a good chat!’

Anusha is thrilled to be able to volunteer in aged care.

‘I have a lot of family back home in Pakistan, and so it is comfortable and nice for me to be surrounded by people. I feel connected to the group, and them to me.’

‘It is important in my culture to give back to older people, and it gives me a lot of purpose throughout my week.’

‘I have a lot of gratitude to be here.’

Thank you for sharing your love of volunteering with us, Anusha!
