    New rooms at Resthaven Marion

Recognising community expectations, Resthaven can now offer all new residents an individual room with a private ensuite at all Resthaven residential aged care homes.

Three new rooms that feature embedded smart technology have been constructed at Resthaven Marion to complete this offering across Resthaven. The new rooms are located in the Koolkuna area and were completed in December 2019.

‘New technology features in the rooms will be trialled for future consideration when upgrading our existing accommodation and for any future developments. The features include an intelligent nurse call sensor system, door and ensuite sensors to alert staff if needed, new bedheads with strip LED sensor lighting and other smart features,’ says Emmet O’Donovan, Manager, Buildings and Capital Projects.

‘We are keen to gauge the effectiveness of the new smart technology features.’

‘Other construction on site is still underway to improve amenities at Resthaven Marion, with works expected to be completed by March 2020.’

‘As well as single rooms, another important consideration is to have some larger rooms that can accommodate couples who wish to share the same room together. All Resthaven aged care homes have larger rooms that are suitable for couples. Sometimes these rooms are occupied by an individual, hence the need for the additional new rooms at Resthaven Marion.’

Guided tours of Resthaven Marion are conducted on the first Thursday of each month, at 2pm. Phone 8198 2000 to join a tour.
