    Resthaven Sponsors Palliative Medicine Prize

Resthaven actively supports education that is of benefit to older people and prepares a future aged care workforce by sponsoring a number of scholarships and awards for students.

Resthaven’s Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner, Peter Jenkin, lectures to students and is active in his advocacy on this important topic. Hence, Peter was delighted to present the 2019 Resthaven Palliative Medicine Prize to Morgan Price at the University of Adelaide’s MBBS Declaration Ceremony at the end of the 2019 teaching year on Friday 29 November.

The Resthaven Palliative Medicine Prize is awarded to a final year University of Adelaide medical student, who has demonstrated excellence in palliative medicine during their medical training.

Morgan said she found her placement with the Northern Adelaide Palliative Services team “a very rewarding and personally challenging time”. She hopes to find further clinical roles in palliative medicine as her career progresses.

Resthaven also works collaboratively with the University of Adelaide to offer medical students a placement at the Adelaide Geriatrics Training & Research in Aged Care Centre (G-TRAC), located at the Resthaven Paradise campus. This experience enables students to work with older people who live at home, giving the medical practitioners of the future a different experience and alternative perspective of ageing than in a hospital, where people may be acutely unwell.
