    Springtime crafting at Resthaven Mitcham

Residents of Resthaven Mitcham have been taking advantage of the springtime sun, moving their popular craft group outside.

Lifestyle Coordinator, Sylvia Ortiz, says, ‘The weather has been gorgeous, so we decided to run our mosaic workshop on the balcony.’

‘Residents are learning the skill of mosaic with the expertise of Resthaven volunteer, Karen.’

‘Karen was thrilled to teach the class, so we gathered plenty of the materials to decorate with, including coloured pebbles and quoted tiles.’

Residents began bringing their designs to life, using a mosaic base, tesserae, cutter, adhesive and grout to lay down the tiles.

All the while, residents enjoyed afternoon tea in the sunshine.

‘It was a great hit. Residents created their individual pieces, which was a first for many who had never dabbled in the technique before.’

‘They were proud to discuss what they learned with other residents, and chatted about what they would like to try next class.’

‘We look forward to hosting more lifestyle activities out in the sunshine, now that it is here to stay!’

What will they come up with next?
