Social group in Naracoorte, Millicent, and Mount Gambier
Fan-tastic artists
Recently, Resthaven Limestone Coast Community Services’ social group met for their monthly afternoon get together at 15B James Street, Mount Gambier.
This month, clients were treated to a history lesson in the art of fan dancing.
‘Inspired by the Han Dynasty’s history in traditional fan dancing, clients were eager to watch a step-by-step tutorial on how to dance with a fan—but first, they needed one of their own!’
‘The group began by sketching on a folded paper fan template, before transferring the designs to their fan and painting them.’
‘Clients, volunteers and staff all enjoyed an afternoon tea, and a few rounds of bingo whilst waiting for their paint to dry.’
‘Finally, it was time to see what we were made of! We all picked up a fan and began copying the dancing videos from earlier in the day—which sparked a lot of laughter and fun between the group!’
The social group enjoys various activities each month, including craft, games, exercise, outings, and much more.
‘We have a fun, playful group here at the Mount Gambier office, and would love to invite more clients to join in on the laughter.’
‘If you would like to enquire about joining, come on down to the office on James Street, and introduce yourself. Alternatively, you can phone 8726 9400.’
The team look forward to relocating to a larger office at 13 Penola Road, to enable more group programs in the future. Stay tuned for more details.
