The Resthaven Friendship Group invite you to Gawler!

The Resthaven Northern Community Services ‘Friendship Group’ welcome new members to join their weekly social gathering to facilitate meaningful connections between like-minded people in the area.

Held at the Gawler outreach office at 5 King Street, Gawler, the regular group of four Resthaven clients was formed two years ago, and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Coordinator, Andrea Hanson, who facilitates the group, says, ‘We welcome Commonwealth Home Support Programme clients living in Gawler, Barossa and surrounds. We do, however, encourage anyone to join if they would like to—the more the merrier!’

The group meet each Wednesday from 10.30am to 2.30pm, and a lunch meal is provided. Currently, they have been enjoying board games, although it isn’t the only activity on offer that has attracted clients for the past two years.

One local client, Mr Charlie Farrugia, has particularly enjoyed the Friendship Group catchups.

He says, ‘It helps for good exercise of the brain, and staves away the mental ageing.’

    Other clients say:

‘It gets me out of the house, and I’m happy with the friendships I’ve made.’

‘They organise transport back and forth, making it possible for me to attend which I am grateful for.’

‘It’s great fun. I look forward to it each week!’

In addition to the enriching clubs and groups offered by Resthaven Northern Community Services, the Gawler team hold monthly bus trips for clients in the area, where they can enjoy a meal at the local pub or café.

If you would like to be involved in next month’s bus trip, give Andrea a call on 8526 4700.
