    Harmony at Resthaven Community Services

From 15-21 March 2021, the Resthaven Paradise & Eastern Community Services staff celebrated their diversity with celebrations throughout Harmony Week.

Manager, Leah Wills, says, ‘The Resthaven Paradise & Eastern Community Services staff team come from near and far, with countries of origin including Iran, Philippines, China, India, Wales, Bangladesh, Spain, South Africa and Pakistan.’

‘We were excited to celebrate and share our diverse cultural heritages.’

‘During the week, each person brought a dish from their own country to share with colleagues (in a COVID-safe manner) and we all enjoyed tasting something different and sharing recipes.’

‘Bright national dress was worn by several staff, which added to the festive atmosphere, and we learned how to say “hello” in each person’s language.’

‘We also shared a cultural tradition from different countries; for example, in Spain on 7 December, family and friends gather and light candles in homes and streets to celebrate their wishes for the upcoming Christmas period.’

‘Thank you to our amazing staff team for sharing their stories and cultures, in the true spirit of Harmony Week that “everyone belongs”.’

Resthaven Paradise & Eastern Community Services supports older people in the north-east to live independently in their own homes, with a range of in-home and centre-based support and wellness options.

Resthaven community and residential services are provided throughout metropolitan Adelaide, the Adelaide Hills, Murraylands, Riverland, Fleurieu Peninsula, lower Barossa region and the Limestone Coast of South Australia.
