As a Respite Coordinator, Emily works closely with individuals and their families and carers who come into ‘Hollyhock’ respite cottage in Mount Gambier.

‘Resthaven Community Services gives people independence to be able to stay in their homes for longer,’ Emily says.

‘People in our community can receive services such as nursing and allied health services, shopping support, social support, one-on-one support in the home, respite in the home, personal care services and help with medications.’

Emily also helps facilitate a weekly exercise group and a monthly social group at the house in Mount Gambier.

‘It’s lovely to see the friendships that have formed between our clients,’ Emily says. ‘They really look forward to meeting up. It’s good for everyone’s wellbeing.’

Emily loves her job at Resthaven, and says, ‘I’ve been working for Resthaven for 16 years.’

‘Resthaven has given me the opportunity for a lot of growth, to be able to move up and follow my dreams.’

In addition to day respite in Mount Gambier, Resthaven offers community respite accommodation at Aldinga Beach, Gawler, Marion, Murray Bridge, Victor Harbor, Noarlunga, Westbourne Park and Toorak Gardens, as well as at Resthaven residential aged care homes.
